Privacy Policy

This policy explains which data Selfiest uses, why, and how to exercise your rights. No ads, no data selling, no advertising trackers.

1. Data controller

2. Data we use

• Account: email address, Apple or Google sign-in identifier, username, name if provided at sign-in, date of birth, country, language, time zone.
• Selfies: your photos (challenges, mirrors, free selfies, profile photo, selfies sent to friends), their captions, the date and country when taken.
• Activity: challenges played, votes, friends, invitations and relays, reports, blocks, settings.
• Contacts (only if you allow it): the email addresses in your address book are turned on your phone into unreadable fingerprints (SHA-256) before being sent. We compare them with existing accounts to show who already plays, and keep nothing about people who are not registered.
• Device: push notification token.
• Parental consent (France, under 15): the parent’s email address and their answer.

3. Why, and on what legal basis

• Running the game and your account (performance of the contract).
• Checking selfies, handling reports, preventing abuse and keeping the service secure (legitimate interest and legal obligations).
• Sending notifications (your consent, which you can withdraw in your phone and app settings).
• Finding your contacts who already play (your consent).
• Collecting parental consent where the law requires it (legal obligation).
• Measuring use of the service in aggregate (legitimate interest).

4. Automated selfie checks

Before publication, each selfie is analysed by an artificial intelligence model (Claude, by Anthropic) to detect nudity, violence, hate or the absence of a face. A selfie may be refused automatically; you can contest a decision by writing to support@selfiest.com, and a human will review it. Anthropic acts as a processor and does not use these images to train its models.

5. What other players see

Your username, profile photo, country and selfies, depending on the visibility you choose (world or friends). Your public page selfiest.com/your-username only exists from age 15 and can be turned off in settings. Your name, email and date of birth are never shown.

6. Service providers

• Hetzner Online GmbH: hosting of servers and photos, in the European Union.
• Anthropic PBC (United States): selfie checks.
• Expo (650 Industries, United States), Apple and Google: notifications and sign-in.
• Our email delivery provider: sign-in codes and parental consent.

Transfers outside the European Union rely on the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses or an equivalent mechanism.

7. How long

• As long as your account exists. A selfie you delete is erased.
• When you delete your account: selfies, messages, friends, votes and notifications are erased immediately and your email is anonymised. Backup copies disappear as they rotate.
• Sign-in codes expire after 10 minutes.

8. Your rights

You can access, correct, erase and export your data, object to or restrict certain uses, and withdraw your consent at any time. Write to support@selfiest.com from your account’s email address. You can also contact a data protection authority: the AEPD in Spain (aepd.es) or the one in your country.

9. Minors

Selfiest is open from age 13. In France, a parent must consent between 13 and 15. If you believe a child under 13 is using Selfiest, write to us and we will delete the account.

10. Security and changes

Encrypted connections, photos only reachable through short-lived signed links, restricted and logged access to administration. We will let you know in the app about any important change to this policy.
